Twitch streamer Skumnut mastered a special challenge in God of War. But he was banned from the streaming platform for a careless comment. Now he is allowed to go back because a friend stood up for him.
What was behind the ban? Skumnut is a content creator primarily known for Souls games and Soulslikes. He streamed Elden Ring alone for 364 hours (via TwitchTracker). For his first playthrough in God of War Ragnarök, the streamer wanted to particularly challenge himself in 2022:
He tried a “kick only” run, defeating all opponents exclusively with kicks. According to his own information, he is the first player to successfully complete such a run. To do this, he streamed almost 10 hours a day for a week.
He apparently wanted to share his success with his fellow streamer Mega. While he was on the air, Skumnut wrote in his chat: “I will kick you to death.” This was probably meant as a joke and Mega also reacted to the message with a laugh and explained to his chat that this was probably a reference to the “Kick Only “-Run by Skumnut be.
However, Twitch wasn’t having fun and banned Skumnut indefinitely. However, despite the streamer’s efforts to explain the situation, the ban was not lifted. It seemed like Skumnut had been permanently banned for what was essentially a harmless joke.

What is the current development? On October 24, 2023, Skumnut was surprisingly unblocked after 11 months and 6 days. This became known via the automated account StreamerBans on X, formerly Twitter.
The streamer responded to the post by sharing a photo of himself with his middle finger raised. He wrote: “I always come back.”
Why was the ban lifted? As Skumnut writes in a comment, the streamer Matthew “MattApocalypse” traveled to TwitchCon in Las Vegas and spoke to employees on site about the case.
Skumnut thanked his friend, but has not yet used his newfound freedom for a comeback stream on Twitch. Instead, he remains active on YouTube, where he has more than 230,000 subscribers.
Skumnut’s unblocking comes just weeks after scandal streamer IShowsSpeed’s supposed perma-ban was lifted. Twitch boss Dan Clancy had already granted the possibility of giving permanently banned streamers a second chance in September. Apparently they are sticking to it.
