Northug retired from skiing in 2018, but has recently made a new commitment to long-distance running. It is not something Gunde Svan has followed.
– I haven’t done that, and I don’t know how it’s supposed to go. We’ll see how long it lasts, I didn’t think it would last at all. But I was wrong, so… We’ll see, he says to Sportbibeln.
Do you think he can return to cross-country skiing?
– No I do not think so. Not in this situation.

During the recording, Gunde Svan got a completely new image of Northug.
– I have to say that there was a different picture of Petter there than I thought. They were terrified that I would have to wait for him every single day when we were going to record, but he behaved in an exemplary manner. I mean, you don’t get that good at skiing if you’re a slouch, which he might also be perceived as a bit like sometimes. But no, it was only positive, I had a lot of negative prejudices when I arrived, but still it was more than expected, says Gunde.
