Israel continues to attack Gaza. All forms of communication to the Gaza Strip have been cut and, due to repeated attacks, electricity and telephony have been destroyed – something that worries human rights organizations.
During Saturday, the Israeli military, the IDF, continued its attacks against the terrorist group Hamas, both in the air and on the ground. AFP reports that the situation in Gaza can be compared to the devastation after a natural disaster.
“Hundreds of buildings and houses were completely destroyed and thousands of other homes were damaged,” said Mahmud Bassal, spokesman for the Gaza Civil Defense, to the news agency.
According to the Hamas-controlled health authority, the death toll in Gaza has risen to over 7,700 people, thousands of them children.
Humanitarian crisis grows: “No one cares about us”
On Saturday, premises belonging to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, UNRWA, were looted in central Gaza. A large number of people were seen coming out of the premises with food and water, according to AFP.
– We have no flour, no aid, no water. Not even toilets. Our houses were destroyed. Nobody cares about us. We appeal to the people of the world, all international powers are against us. We needed help, and we wouldn’t have done this if we weren’t in need, Abdulrahman al-Kilani told the news agency.
AFP has also spoken to Um Samer al-Attar, who testifies about the humanitarian crisis.
– We need fresh water, we need food. We are starving. This is completely unfair. Our children cannot sleep. We have to give them water and food, she says.
