County holding Halloween-themed events

Norfolk County is serving a double-dose of Halloween fun on Saturday.

The county’s recreation department is holding a Halloween bash at the Simcoe Recreation Center from 1 pm to 4 pm on Oct. 28. The family event will feature an afternoon of “spooky fun” including crafts, games and the magic of Dougtastic.

Prizes will be awarded for the funniest, most original and homemade costumes.

Pre-registration is required and can be done online through ENCORE at www.norfolkcounty.ca/living/parks-and-recreation/encore/, by phone at 519-426-5870 or 226-NORFOLK ext.?2233, or in person at the Simcoe Recreation Center until 8 pm Friday, or after 9 am on Saturday morning.

The cost is $5 per person.

The afternoon event will be followed by two “spooky splash-themed” swims at the Annaleise Carr Aquatic center. A family swim, sponsored by Absolute Respiratory, is free for all families and runs from 4:30 pm to 5 pm

Pre-registration is not available and participation is on a first come, first serve basis. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

The public swim takes place from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm and is open to all at regular admission fees and pre-registration is available.

Meanwhile, county recreation staff will be participating in the Second Annual Trunk or Treat held by the Simcoe Gliders at the Norfolk County Fairgrounds. The event takes place from 1 pm to 3 pm
