Commitment, initiative, competence and willingness to work, these are some of the qualities that have qualified the shepherd Krogstorps Sky for the award police dog of the year 2023.

Together with her handler Magnus Stenlilja, six-year-old Sky serves as a combination dog, which means that she is a patrol dog that has also been trained to search for weapons and drugs. Sky has, among other things, found 24 missing people in search of rescue in the last two years.

“She loves working as a police dog. She is a good tracking dog, but above all a great search dog. I trust her 110 percent, if there is someone out there and she gets the right conditions then she will succeed,” says Magnus Stenlilja in a press release from the Swedish Kennel Club.

Sky has been on duty as a police dog since 2019 and is active in Region Väst with Skövde as its base. Magnus Stenlilja describes her as a dog with a very high work ethic who is curious about her surroundings and fun to work with.

“Distinctive about her way of working is that she takes the time to stop and sort through the impressions before she starts working, to decide which is the best way. And she never gives up,” he says.
