The Italian Statistical Institute, Istat, has just unveiled its report on poverty in Italy in 2022, the first year of the right-wing and far-right government led by Giorgia Meloni. The figures for absolute poverty are alarming. Especially since the abolition of citizenship income, equivalent to the French RSA, will come into force on January 1.
