The Sámi Parliament grants money to cultural projects

The Sami Parliament’s culture committee had a meeting last week and there they granted SEK 393,280 for eight new cultural projects.

The International Sami Film Institute receives the most money, which is awarded SEK 100,000.

Visual artist Tomas Colbengtson also receives the same amount of money.

The Sami association in Stockholm receives SEK 50,000 for the memorial day for the return of Sami remains and sacred objects.

The author Sophia Rehnfjell has previously written the children’s book “Rädda mig!/Gájuoh muv!” in both Swedish and Umesami.

Earlier this year, she also published the book “Bringing our languages ​​home – Sámi/Swedish version” where she wrote about her language journey when she regained Umesa Sami.

– I want to be an inspiration to other people, Sophia Rehnfjell told SVT Sápmi at the time.

Now she receives SEK 26,000 from the Sami Parliament to write a second children’s book in Ume Sami.
