Severe explosion at the nuclear power plant in Ukraine Official

In the statement made by the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy, it was stated that two buildings of the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant were damaged in the explosion, and it was stated that “The enemy hit the area near the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant. As a result of the explosion, the windows of the administrative and laboratory buildings were damaged.”
It was stated in the statement that power lines were also damaged, and more than 1,800 households in the towns of Netishyn and Slavuta were facing power outages.

In his statement, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy stated that Russia probably targeted the nuclear power plant with UAVs, and that the attack proved that tougher sanctions were needed against Russia. Zelenskiy said, “The target of these UAVs was most likely the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant. The shock wave created by the explosion shattered the windows, including the facilities of the nuclear power plant.”

“WE MAY NOT BE THIS LUCKY NEXT TIME”

In the statement made by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it was stated that the explosions resulting from the UAV attack did not affect the activities of the facility or its connection to the network, and that some off-site radiation monitoring stations experienced temporary power loss.
IAEA President Rafael Grossi said in his statement: “The damage to many windows in the area shows how close this was. We may not be so lucky next time.”
