Kalle Rovanpera can secure the championship in a very special

Kalle Rovanperä will secure his second consecutive world championship if he finishes ahead of teammate Elfyn Evans. In the Central European World Rally Championship, races are held in no less than three different countries.

Kalle Rovanperä has an excellent chance of securing a second consecutive World Rally Championship this weekend.

Toyota driver Rovanperä leads the World Series with a difference of 31 points to Elfyn Evans.

This weekend’s Central European World Rally Championship is the penultimate World Rally Championship of the season. You can get a maximum of 30 points from one World Cup rally if you win the actual race and are still number one on the Power Stage that ends the race. You get 25 points for the competition win and 5 points for the Power Stage.

This means that Rovanperä will definitely win the world championship, as long as he finishes before Evans in the actual race and on the Power Stage.

If Rovanperä does not finish before Evans, the Welshman must grab at least two more points than the Finnish driver. Evans will surely extend the title fight to the final race in Japan if he wins the Central European race.

This is how World Championship points are awarded in the rally

Points from the Power Stage:

1) 5 points 2) 4 points 3) 3 points 4) 2 points) 5) 1 point

The championship can be decided in a special competition

The Central European World Cup Rally is very special, as it is historically run in three different countries: the Czech Republic, Germany and Austria.

In the so-called modern era, the World Cup will be contested in three different countries for the first time. The World Rally Championship is being held in Germany after a four-year break. The last time it was held in Austria was in 1973. The World Rally Championship has never been held in the Czech Republic before.

The race is run on asphalt roads.

When it was last raced in Germany in 2019, Toyota took a triple win. Then Ott Tänak won, Chris Meeke was another and Jari-Matti Latvala was third. The achievement got the Toyota team manager at the time Tommi Mäkinen to get excited enough that he sent greetings to the javelin legend For Seppo Rädy.

– Then it occurred to me to send greetings to one of the javelin throwers, that this Germany is not such a crappy country after all, Mäkinen interrupted.

The service park for this year’s Central European World Rally Championship is in the city of Passau in Germany. The test special test will be run in nearby Tittling already on Wednesday afternoon. The actual rally starts in the Czech capital, Prague, and near its castle on Thursday afternoon.

On Thursday and Friday, we drive purely on the Czech side. On Friday, there is no actual daily maintenance, just a tire change.

Of the three special tests on Saturday, two will be contested on the Austrian side and one on the German side. Sunday’s two special stages are run on both sides of the border between Austria and Germany.

If Rovanperä wins his second championship, he will rise Walter Röhrl, Miki Biasion, Carlos Sainz and Marcus Grönholm alongside a two-time world champion.

Of these, Grönholm won the previous Finnish rally world championships in 2000 and 2002.
