During a demonstration for Gaza, the Swedish social service’s LVU custody of children was compared to Hamas’ kidnappings of Israeli children.
“Lies”, believes the Prime Minister, who believes that the claims constitute a security threat.
– It’s dangerous. Not least when terrorists explicitly target Sweden and Swedes, says Ulf Kristersson.
It was last Sunday that a large demonstration for Gaza was held at Sergels Torg in Stockholm.
In connection with that, one of the speakers equated the social services’ LVU care of children in harm’s way to Hamas’ kidnappings of Israeli children.
– Here in Sweden there is an authority called the social service which has taken children without legal support. So Ulf Kristersson, don’t accuse Palestinians of having kidnapped 20 Israeli children, while thousands of children are kidnapped by your authority called the social service, expressed the speaker Sulaiman Abualfita, from the association “Family united”.
The claims that the Swedish social service “kidnaps” Muslim children who are taken into care under the Act on the care of young people, LVU, are the cornerstone of an extensive campaign that has been ongoing in recent years.
Something that the Security Police has pointed out as one of the factors in the deteriorating Swedish security situation, among other things as it is believed to be conducted by actors outside of Sweden.
Kristersson: “Know that this is a lie”
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson also stated in connection with a press conference about NATO on Tuesday that “the disinformation campaign constitutes a security threat”.
– I know this is a lie. Swedish social services protect children, they do not kidnap children. Nevertheless, these messages are spread systematically in Sweden and about Sweden, not least in the direction of many Muslim countries. Over the weekend, we saw demonstrations in Stockholm that spread exactly this kind of misinformation about Sweden.
– It’s dangerous. For Sweden, for Swedes abroad and for Swedish interests around the world. Not least when terrorists explicitly target Sweden and Swedes, says Ulf Kristersson.
Victor Sama’ina from the Palestine Working Group, central Sweden, was one of those who organized Sunday’s demonstration.
He tells Aftonbladet that Sulaiman Abualfita was not on the list of speakers, but was approved to go up and speak at the end of the demonstration.
– He himself comes from Gaza and has lost two relatives there. He showed on his mobile what he was going to say and it was absolutely nothing strange. It was nothing about kidnapped children, says Victor Sama’ina and continues:
– We were there to urge the government to do something about the situation in Gaza, that was our only purpose. It was not the time for him to talk about his problems. It is completely unacceptable that he brings this up then.
He believes that with hindsight they would not have let Abualfita speak.
– They wanted to take advantage of this situation to be seen. I think it’s disrespectful, but it was a mistake on our part and we apologize for that. It shall not be repeated again.
“Equally important question”
However, Sulaiman Abualfita himself gives a different version to Aftonbladet.
He means that he was not interrupted, but that he was allowed to finish speaking.
– I handed over the mic voluntarily when my speech was over.
Furthermore, he believes that it was relevant to highlight the LVU treatment in the speech.
– This issue is as important as the Palestine issue.
When asked how he views the Prime Minister’s view that the campaign constitutes a security threat to Sweden, he says the following:
– Ulf Kristersson is a hypocrite. We love Sweden and we don’t threaten anyone. I regret that they have taken it as a threat. It’s a promise. This is information, not disinformation.
