“Turnover is becoming structural, it is essential to adapt to it” – L’Express

Turnover is becoming structural it is essential to adapt to

There are times when we question ourselves. Crises in your thirties, forties, fifties, sixties, which can start at age 18 and end at retirement. In Souchon mode, the days of storm in the skull: “When I’m K.-O./Come down from the phono stages/Pushed down/By the finest of the strongest than me […].” The existential anxiety that continues at work, with the stages of life to go through, the pyramid to climb or the experiences to accumulate.

These moments of reflection are sometimes so strong that we say to ourselves that it is time to change, without knowing when, how or where to go. But building a career in a company or throughout your professional career is the price of today’s world of work. The big resignation, turnover, hybrid work or four-day weeks are all elements that force you to think about your situation and your future in a post-pandemic context that is constantly changing. Am I bankable ? “At Manpower, we recruit all types of professions,” replies Véronique Kirchner, France director of the Manpower experts and executives network.

“Manpower France represents more than a third of the group’s activity worldwide and is divided into different networks which cover all HR spectrums”, indicates the boss of the Manpower experts and executives network, created in 2021, for recruitment and the placement of profiles whose annual salaries exceed 30,000 euros. A network which today has 200 consultants, spread across the 13 largest French cities, within 60 agencies and whose mission is to find the best candidates for fixed-term, permanent, temporary or interim management positions. .

The labor market has evolved significantly: “If, a few years ago, the weight of workers within the French working population was significant, there was a reversal in 2020: today, that of executives and professions intermediaries is higher, hence the need for Manpower to be positioned in this niche”, affirms Véronique Kirchner. Indeed, the share of executives in total employment reaches 21.7% in 2022 (20.4% in 2020), compared to 18.9% for workers (19.2% in 2020). At the start of the 1980s, workers outnumbered managers almost 4 times (Insee, no. 1844, 2021, and no. 1941, 2023). The rare bird’s corporate clients are those of the CAC 40, SMEs and start-ups. Manpower is doing well, with seventy years of existence on the job market and a territorial coverage. “We have substantial CV libraries and thousands of candidate profiles to offer, essential services for recruitment.”

Currently, profiles in the digital fields (engineers, developers, architects, cybersecurity specialists, etc.), sales and marketing are the most sought after. “We are also seeing strong demand in recruitment, HR and, of course, the life sciences sector. And new professions are emerging: an ecosystem around green energies, future wind farms and manufacturing plants. electric batteries, for example.” The recruitment time varies from twenty-four/forty-eight hours to three to six months for professions in shortage. Furthermore, French employees move around more and the youngest want to have different experiences; they stay in their position for two to three years on average before changing. “Turnover is becoming structural, and it is essential to adapt to it,” indicates Véronique Kirchner.

For the Manpower expert and executive network, there are two approaches. One, classic, follows company specifications to find suitable candidates. The other, “more disruptive”, starts from supported candidates. “We have a very close relationship [avec eux, ce qui permet de] offer them to companies ‘in advance'”, specifies Véronique Kirchner. Solving the equation: which profile for which territory and with which professions in tension. “We are very attentive to the requests of our candidates and companies in “Headhunters? “Talent agents,” she corrects. When our candidates have a desire for change, we can advise them on training, so that they improve their skills to be in line with the position that interests them.” And to conclude: “Training is a fantastic tool for evolving, whatever the job!” This does not answer the question “should I leave or stay”, but it allows you to stay bankable facing the most beautiful, those stronger than you…
