The story of Leave the World Behind revolves around a family who escape from everyday life want. Amanda (Julia Roberts) and her husband Clay (Ethan Hawke) can no longer stand it in their own four walls. So they travel to a posh vacation home with their children Archie (Charlie Evans) and Rose (Farrah Mackenzie).
At first glance everything seems idyllic. But then suddenly you stop two strangers in front of the door: (Mahershala Ali) and his daughter Ruth (Myha’la Herrold). They bring the news of the end of the world. At first, Amanda and Clay think it’s a bad joke. However, it gradually becomes clear that the end of days is really imminent.

The creative mind behind Leave the World Behind is Sam Esmail, creator of the acclaimed mindfuck series Mr. Robot. He adapted one for his first major Netflix film Novel by Rumaan Alam. Based on the trailer, we can look forward to a variation of well-known apocalyptic material such as War of the Worlds and Co.
