The gold medals have been pouring in in recent years.
But now Jonna Sundling comes with a most unexpected revelation about private life.
Where she can do exactly what the icon Gunde Svan has done.
In just a few years have Jonna Sundling developed into one of the world’s best skiers and one of the greatest golden heroes in Swedish skiing. In recent years, she has dominated in the sprint and basically snatched all the gold medals at the major championships.
Sundling’s success
WC 2021 in Oberstdorf ended with double WC gold in sprint and sprint relay, Olympics 2022 in Beijing there was Olympic gold in sprint and Olympic silver in sprint relay and now most recently during WC 2023 in Planica there were two new WC gold in sprint and sprint relay. The 28-year-old from Umeå has been absolutely outstanding when it came to the sprint races.

Now she reveals a big reason for the success in recent years. When Sundling was a guest on the television program “Hellenius hörna”, a nice greeting came from her sire Perry Olsson.
Jonna’s private life
The collaboration between Jonna and Perry has proven to be worth its weight in gold and Sundling has great respect for the Swedish super-valler, who a few years ago changed the Norwegian national ski team for the Swedish national ski team.
– I’ve had him for a few years and I enjoy that. He was in Norway for like 17 years, a hell of a long time anyway. He herded for Petter (Northug) and Marit (Björgen). Getting him didn’t feel so bad, she says in the TV4 program.
– He is a rock. Without him, I don’t know how I would have gone. He is great at herding and has good experience there. He can see what care I need, he can see with the naked eye if something needs to be done.

Sundling actually dedicates the 2021 WC gold in Oberstdorf to Olsson and now admits that his name may become a big part of her private life. The host David Hellenius wondering if she will do as the icon Gunde Swan who named his first-born son, Ferry, after his own sire.
– Okay, even I didn’t know this, Sundling answers nervously.

Then the Swedish World Cup gold hero starts on the idea and can think of giving Perry Olsson the ultimate tribute by naming his child after his favorite stallion.
– Then I will name my son Perry. Almost Ferry!, she says with a laugh in the TV show.
