Several of the players in the new team are close to 60 years old and all played ice hockey when they were younger.
There aren’t that many veteran women’s teams for women, in Dalarna the team in Älvdalen thinks they are the only ones. There are, however, teams in the Stockholm area that play, but the dream would be for more ladies to play at a slightly closer distance.
– We would like to have someone to play against when we “rust out”, so we hope that more people will be inspired and want to play, says Ing-Marie Bergman.
“Means a lot”
The newly started team also sees the importance of being there to maintain the hockey interest of younger players after the youth years. But also for her own part, says Lena Bergman, who also plays in the veteran team.
– It’s great fun to meet the old comrades, which means a lot. Now the kids are grown and then you have time to spend on leisure interests.
