Climate activists in the race area on E6

Several climate activists from the organization Restore Wetlands have made it inside the barriers in the race area on the E6 in Stenungssund.
– They are aware that they have committed a crime, says police spokesperson Stefan Gustafsson.

Police were alerted to the incident by security guards on Sunday morning.

Three people are said to have climbed a pole to attach a banner.

– It is a deliberate act, they know they have committed a crime, says police spokesperson Stefan Gustafsson.

The incident is confirmed by the organization Restore Våtmarker’s press spokesperson.

– That’s right. The activists have climbed onto a scaffold and hung up a banner, says Roxy Farhat.

Police: Will prosecute them

The purpose of the action is to draw attention to what happened in Stengrund, says Farhat.

– Everything from our infrastructure to the individual will become very vulnerable and we want to shine a light on that, she says.

The police are on the scene with several units.

– We do not go in but wait outside the barriers. When they come out, we will prosecute and identify them, says Stefan Gustafsson.

The categorization is currently a violation of authority orders and illegal trespass.
