Final Fantasy XIV is currently hosting the Fan Festival in London. All sorts of innovations to the Dawntrail expansion were presented there today as part of a keynote speech. One of them is the new Job Viper. This uses two swords, which can also be combined into one long sword.
What do we know about the class? The Viper is somewhat reminiscent of the existing Job Ninja, but with a different flair. Both classes also share the same type of equipment.
You start in Ul’dah, so you can start your adventures directly in Dawntrail. You also don’t need any other class as a prerequisite to use it.
In the trailer you can see some quick attacks carried out with the two individual blades. However, the Viper can also combine them into a weapon and carry out even stronger attacks.
The job was presented by Naoki Yoshida in a matching cosplay. The spectators live on site completely freaked out, also because a Meele DPS with a fast fighting style was one of the most desired classes.

A fighter like Zidane or Darth Maul
How is the gameplay received? Very good. The new class reminds many of Zidane from Final Fantasy 9 or Darth Maul from Star Wars due to the fast-paced fighting style and use of blades. These are two very prominent and positive examples when it comes to particularly good fights.
The comparison with Zidane is obvious, after all they both come from the same universe. However, the comparison to the villain from Star Wars was drawn six times:
However, some also admit that they were expecting a completely different class. A Corsair, a maritime class with a sword and pistol, was very popular.
But they are still not disappointed, as the user einUberMensch proves: “Well, it seems that almost all of us were wrong in our guess. I admit I would have preferred a Corsair with a sword/pistol, but honestly it has [Yoshida] Right if people are looking for another one “Ask for a dual wield job. And I like what I see.”
New people and pictures for the new graphics
What else was revealed? One of the new races in Dawntrail is reminiscent of goblins and they are called Moblins. The new alliance raid Echoes of Vana’diel was also introduced.
You can also look forward to well-known content such as the FATEs, hunts and treasure maps.

In the keynote it was emphasized again that the release of Dawntrail is planned for summer 2024. Until then, another job will be presented, among other things.
Last but not least, it was revealed that the crossover with Fall Guys will appear with patch 6.51, i.e. on October 31st.
