Seasonal allergies can cause symptoms like a runny nose, itchy throat or even swollen eyes in some people. Consumption of raw pollen combats these climatic reactions. Find a new show dedicated to beehive products every Friday evening on Top Santé TV.
Seasonal allergies, also called allergic rhinitis or hay fever, generally appear as the transition from winter to spring. From March onwards, flowering trees release a large quantity of pollen which spreads into the air and can cause symptoms in some sensitive people. “Pollen is perceived as an aggressor, hence the body’s defense reaction with an increase in the quantity of histamine,” says naturopath Stephanie Dray.
Bee products to prepare the body for allergies
Raw pollen has the property of being able to reduce histamine levels thanks to its manganese content, an immunity-regulating trace element that stimulates natural defenses. Different pollens can be recommended depending on the ailments (rockrose, chestnut, willow, etc.). For allergies, mille fleur pollen is recommended. The main reason: it contains spring flowers. Used to desensitize the body to anemophilic pollen (allergen), the consumption of entomophilic pollen (non-allergenic) will have an anti-inflammatory action.
Royal jelly, known for its many benefits on the body, also helps fight seasonal allergies. “Apalbumin and 10HDA are components that actively fight against fatigue. When we are in good health, we are better able to face external attacks,” explains naturopath Claire Desvaux who recommends alternating cures of raw pollen and royal jelly when the sunny days arrive.
