Malo, a pretty Celtic first name
Camille Cerf and her partner have chosen a Celtic first name for their baby. Indeed Malo is a first name of Breton origin translating as “wise prince”. Coming from two Celtic terms “mach” (gage) and “low” (luminous), Malo is a rare and ancient first name. Its history begins with the arrival of Saint Malo d’Aleth, the founder of the monastery of Saint-Malo. The latter came from Wales to evangelize the Bretons. Moreover, it is in Brittany that the first name is very successful. It was not until the end of the 20th century that Malo appeared in other regions. According to the Official Names 2023, little Malos are curious, dynamic, courageous, independent and charismatic! There are around 750 little boys with this first name in France.
