A 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman found a card container with four cards in Tosselilla, which is located in Tomelilla municipality. According to the description of the act which News24 heard from the Ystad district court, both perpetrators acted with intent because they kept the cards during the day.
“Blipped” the stolen card
On the same day, they visited Systembolaget at the central station in Tomelilla and, according to the Ystad district court, “blipped” the stolen bank card. A total of SEK 139 was deducted from the victim’s card.
The 23-year-old denies any wrongdoing
The 23-year-old woman maintains that she is innocent and that she believed the 26-year-old had put the card container back where they found it. When the 26-year-old then used the found card at Systembolaget, the 23-year-old thought it was his own card.
The 26-year-old’s story matches the 23-year-old’s, even he believes that she was not aware that he used the found card at Systembolaget. Neither of them spoke about handing over the card container to the police, and since they didn’t do that either, both are convicted.
The verdict
The man and the woman are convicted of misdemeanor theft and petty fraud. The Ystad district court judges that they acted in concert with each other and the perpetrators have been required to pay damages to the victim.
