Robot vacuums aren’t just for those who have large areas to clean. The Chinese SwitchBot wants to popularize the concept also for small apartments with its K10+ model.
In the aisles of the German consumer electronics show IFA 2023 which is being held until September 5 in Berlin, there were more and more manufacturers of robot vacuum cleaners. Most offer very complete solutions which rely on robots capable of vacuuming the floor but also of mopping the floor. What do they have in common? All focus on fairly large devices, round or square, backed by a rather imposing base. Normally, this essential element acts as an electrical charging station but also serves to empty the dust bin and the water tray and to supply clean water for washing. These docking stations can sometimes be very bulky and it is not always easy to find a suitable place for them in a home. Especially if it is a small area. For these users, the Chinese SwitchBot, which offers several home automation solutions (surveillance cameras, connected locks, humidifiers and even a wireless device for opening and closing curtains) has just added to its catalog a new vacuum cleaner robot, the K10+ in reduced format.
This mini robot adopts a rather original template. Its diameter is close to that of a plate (around 25 cm) for a reasonable height of less than 10 cm. It therefore does not take up much space and can move very easily in small spaces.
This little model is not, however, weak. It offers very acceptable suction power for its size (2500 pa). For washing, it has a small water tank which moistens a disposable wipe.
Back at its docking station, also quite reasonable in size, the device automatically empties its dust container. It is controlled with a mobile application which allows you to manage the areas mapped by the device and organize cleaning sessions. The K10+ should be available in France at the end of the year for a price of around 500 euros.
