OLEG SKRIPKA. The Ukrainian singer of the group Vopli Vidopliassov, Oleg Skripka, very popular in Ukraine, has chosen to stay in Kiev, where he is organizing the resistance against Russia.
He could have left Ukraine before the Russian invasion, he chose to stay. Oleg Skripka, singer of the group Vopli Vidopliassov, very popular in his country, remained in Kiev, where he organizes the resistance against the Russian army and publishes videos in support of the people who are victims of the war. At 58, the singer and musician has chosen to stay in his house in Kiev, with his wife and their four children. If he cannot fight to protect his family, Oleg Skripka has decided to organize various actions to help the population.
The Ukrainian rock star has thus lent a hand in distributing water and food to soldiers, erected barricades to block the way to Russian tanks or set up an online psychological support platform for the population, reports Le Figarowho was able to meet him there.
On March 8, on the occasion of International Women’s Rights Day, Oleg Skripka, who now testifies in videos broadcast on the show Day-to-dayon TMC, also held a concert at a children’s hospital in Kiev, which was shelled by Russian forces.
In the show Day-to-day, broadcast on March 9, 2022, Oleg Skripka shows his house, in which he has transformed his cinema room, in the basement, into a bunker used as a dormitory for his family and as a music studio. “It’s better to sleep here in safety than to hear the bombs every night,” he explains on Yann Barthès’ show.
Born on May 24, 1964, Oleg Skripka made a name for himself with his punk rock group, Vopli Vidopliassova (alias VV), propelled to Ukraine in the 90s, in particular thanks to the title Dance (the French translation of the title of this song). Building on its notoriety in Ukraine, the group went on tour, notably in France, where it was decorated with the title of Knight of the National Order of Merit, in 2008. In 2012, still as popular, he became a juror of the Ukrainian show The Voice.
