There will be no MTV Europe Music Awards in Paris on November 5. The gala is canceled due to the troubled world situation.

The reason is mainly the war in Israel and Gaza.

“This doesn’t feel like the right time for a global party. When thousands have died, it feels more like an opportunity to mourn,” the organizers write in a statement.

The world situation also makes it difficult for the organizers to guarantee the safety of their employees, artists and the audience. Many Jews and Muslims live in France and the war in the Middle East has increased tensions in the country.

Loreen, Zara Larsson and Swedish House Mafia were the Swedish artists who were nominated for the gala.

Young criminals should be able to be sentenced to finish high school.

This is proposed by the Moderates in Kronoberg county, who submitted a motion on the matter to the ongoing party meeting, writes TT.

Those who have been sentenced to graduation, but do not progress in regular school, should be able to be called to youth prisons to complete their education.

Another motion, from Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenegard, suggests that the possibility of conditional release for young people in prison may come with requirements for completed high school studies or to complete SFI.

    – It is very difficult to enter the labor market if you do not have a high school diploma, and then it is reasonable to make demands on those who have committed a crime, she tells TT.

  • Junta: The president tried to escape

Niger’s military junta says that ousted president Mohamed Bazoum tried to escape from his captivity on Thursday.

According to the junta’s spokesperson, the plan was that Mohamed Bazoum would first be taken to a hiding place on the outskirts of the capital, Niamey. From there he was to be flown out with a helicopter “from another country” towards Nigeria.

Popularly elected President Bazoum was ousted by the military junta in a coup on July 26 and has since refused to step down. Until now, he has been held captive in his residence in the presidential palace with his wife Haziza and son Salem.

According to the coup plotters, the deficient security situation in the country was one of the reasons behind the coup. (TT)
