A police officer in Ystad is charged after he used pepper spray and pointed his service weapon at two farmers to get them to stop their vehicles, writes Ystads Allehanda.

The incident occurred last year at an accident scene on a country road. The farmers stated in questioning that they asked the police to move their vehicle so they could pass the scene by driving into a field they own.

The farmers didn’t think the police moved their vehicle enough, so they honked at him. The police should then have urged them to stop in vain, and then followed them in the field and stopped them by drawing their service weapon. The police then used pepper spray against the two farmers, after one of them allegedly pushed him, the newspaper writes.

The prosecutor does not think the police’s actions were “justified or justifiable”, and charges him with misconduct.

The police personnel responsibility board states that the police will not lose their jobs if he is convicted.
