The police suspect that some form of external influence is behind the mysterious death in Söderhamn.
During Wednesday, the bomb protection team investigated the residence – and the police are still investigating what happened.
– I have never been part of anything like this, says Jan Ekholm, group leader for serious crimes at the police to TV4 Nyheterna.
Last Sunday, four family members from Söderhamn went to the hospital because they had become seriously ill.
According to a statement from Region Gävleborg, all of them sought care at Hudiksvall hospital for “serious stomach symptoms”.
A girl died and three people, the parents and a boy, are still being treated in hospital. The father has been able to be questioned by the police.
The bomb squad investigated the residence
The police suspect some form of external influence. Interrogations and blood tests indicate that something other than food has made the family sick.
The incident is being investigated as a murder, but there are no suspects in the case.
On Wednesday, the police again carried out an investigation of the residence in Söderhamn to try to clarify what has happened.
National bomb protection technicians, who also handle chemical and biological substances, have been on site. TV4 Nyheterna has spoken to Jan Ekholm, group leader for serious crimes at the police.
– It is extremely serious, a tragic event that has led to the death of one person, he says.
– It is an exceptional event. I have never experienced anything like this.
The friend: “They are part of my family”
The family has lived in Söderhamn for several years and is described by neighbors and friends as happy and social.
– They mean a lot to me. I’ve known them since I got here. They are part of my family, says friend Nahom.
He says he has known the girl who lost her life since she was born.
– It is impossible to describe the feeling, he says.
