Macron’s state visit to Sweden and the king is cancelled

Next week, French President Emmanuel Macron was to visit Sweden.
Now the court confirms that the visit is postponed.
The reason is, among other things, the terrorist act in Brussels, according to information given to French TF1.

French President Emmanuel Macron would have visited Sweden next week. Now the two countries have agreed that the state visit will be postponed.

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Macron “in a telephone conversation during the afternoon jointly decided to postpone the French state visit to Sweden”, writes the court in a press release.

According to information given to the French TV channel TF1, the canceled state visit is due to a deteriorating security situation, including due to the terrorist attack in Brussels and the war between Israel and Hamas.

The work to determine a new date is now underway, according to the court.

“The king conveyed to the president that he looks forward to welcoming the president and Mrs. Macron at a later date,” writes the court.
