Pokémon GO starts the Halloween event tomorrow with new Pokémon, shiny and bonuses

Halloween 2023 starts in Pokémon GO. The event runs in two parts and brings you a lot of scary and powerful content. We’ll show you everything you need to know.

What kind of event is this? Every year Niantic hosts a Halloween event in Pokémon GO. Various ghost and dark Pokémon are brought to the fore. In keeping with the “Trick or Treat” theme, bonuses for sweets are a must.

Here we will show you an overview of how the first part of this year’s event will work.

Halloween 2023 at a glance

When does the event start? The event begins on October 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. local time. It will then be active until October 26th at 10:00 a.m. local time. This is the first part of the Halloween event.

New Pokémon: Gruff and his evolution Friedwuff appear for the first time in Pokémon GO. Evolution requires 50 Gruff Candies. Shiny Gruff will not activate.

Pokémon in the wild: During the event you will meet the following Pokémon more often in the wild (Pokémon marked with a * can be found as Shiny): Rettan*, Zubat*, Alolan Meowth*, Nebulak*, Alpollo, Webarak*, Traunfugil*, Fiffyen*, Shuppet*, Driftlon*, Lichtel* and Paragoni*.

You’ll find Sankabuh more rarely. You can meet Paragoni for the first time as Shiny.

Event bonuses:

  • Additional candies for good, great and fabulous throws
  • Additional XL candies for good, great and fabulous litters
  • Additional XL candy when hatching eggs (trainer level 31 is required)
  • Double candy for hatching eggs
  • Lavandia music in the game
  • Decorated PokéStops and Arenas

    • Field research: From the event field research you will receive further encounters with Traunfugil and Paragoni. There are also many Poké Balls.

    3 Temporary research: Free Temporary Research will be available to all players during the event. It runs from October 19th to October 31st and requires you to catch Ghost Pokémon. Rewards include stardust and encounters with Gruff.

    The second free temporary research is about Kryppuk and his 108 spirits. Solve the tasks and receive encounters with ghost Pokémon and Kryppuk.

    The paid research brings you encounters with ghost-type Pokémon such as Paragoni or dark-type Pokémon such as Alolan Meowth. You will also receive a Halloween avatar pose for solving it. You have until October 31, 2023 at 8:00 p.m. local time to complete the research.

    Eggs: The 7 km eggs you receive during the event will hatch Mampfaxo*, Riolu* and Galar Makabaja*.
