During his time in Sweden, the then 34-year-old man used a forged passport. Lassoued lived in a then 42-year-old friend’s apartment in Askim in Gothenburg. In the apartment, the 42-year-old had previously run a dog daycare together with his girlfriend.
After an extensive police investigation, Lassoued and the 42-year-old man were arrested by the police in Malmö on a Sunday in September 2012. During the arrest, he and the 42-year-old man were under the influence of cocaine. At Lassoued, the police found around 100 grams of cocaine. A third accomplice had about SEK 40,000 on him.
Butter package with cocaine
When the police searched Lassoued’s residence, a butter package containing approximately 100 grams of cocaine was found. According to the indictment, the drug crime was serious as it was considered to be a large amount of drugs and it was part of a systematic ongoing drug handling.
According to the indictment, the men transported the narcotics to Gothenburg to sell to other people. The men were arrested after a lengthy search where the police, among other things, tapped their phones. The phones in the investigation have, among other things, been located in various places in Africa and the conversations have, among other things, dealt with problems they had with various money transfers.
According to the verdict, it concerns around 200 documented conversations, most of them short. The suspected Brussels terrorist had 100 grams of cocaine on him when he was arrested, something he later admitted.
“Wanted to buy gold”
Lassoued describes the 42-year-old as a good friend. Lassoued claimed in police interrogations that he wanted to buy gold, and not cocaine, but later admitted to drug crimes. Lassoued was sentenced in 2012 to prison for two years and two months and ten years of deportation. The man objected to the deportation decision, but because he had no connection to Sweden and for the serious crime he had committed, he was sentenced to deportation. He was banned from returning to Sweden before 28 December 2022.
The then 42-year-old man has been convicted of several crimes in Sweden in recent years. Last fall, the man was convicted of drug offenses and illegal driving. The penalty was conditional and daily fines.
