Brussels terrorist Abdesalam Lassoued has been in a Swedish prison.
He is said to have used different identities in the country – and is linked to Dalarna.
– After deeper searches, we have been able to find the person, says the Swedish Migration Agency’s press manager Jesper Tengroth.
The terrorist, whose name is Abdesalam Lassoued in the Belgian passport, has been in Sweden for several years.
Sometime between 2012 and 2014, he is said to have been imprisoned for an unknown crime, the Migration Agency tells Aftonbladet.
– During the day, we have continued the search for this person, but we have not received any results on the known name. But after deeper searches, we were able to find the person and see that he was in Sweden between 2012-2014 with partly different identity information, says Jesper Tengroth, press manager at the Migration Agency.
But after completing his sentence, he was extradited under the Dublin Regulation to another EU country.
The Security Police also confirms that the man stayed in Sweden about ten years ago and used different identities.
– The information we currently have is that the suspect was for a short period in Sweden ten years ago. But he has not been subject to the Security Police before, says Fredrik Hultgren-Friberg, press spokesperson at Säpo.
Connects to Dalarna
Lassoued has also liked “Police in Dalarna” on Facebook, which has led the police’s intelligence unit to look into his connection to the county.
– UND is looking into it following orders from the police area manager, but no investigation has been started, there is no preliminary investigation, says Lars Hedelin, the police’s spokesperson to Aftonbladet.
The police say that they follow developments and cooperate with Belgian authorities, but that it mainly takes place at the national level via Säpo.
– We don’t know who this man is. But we have noted this and passed on the information, which is fresh, to the Intelligence Section who are looking further into this. So they can draw any conclusions further on, says Peter Karlsson, police area manager in Dalarna TV4.
