Charlotte Kalla had her first child this summer.
Her social media followers have yet to see her son’s face.
– It still feels right to me, says Kalla to Sundsvalls Tidning.
It was in February this year Charlotte Kalla, 36, revealed the news that she was expecting her first child. The announcement came just over a year after the former cross-country skier announced that she was ending her professional skiing career.
Called New Life
During the spring, Kalla was in TV4’s entertainment program Let’s Dance. There, TV viewers could follow her pregnancy every Friday, right up until the finale.
In the middle of July, Kalla then welcomed the little bundle of joy together with her partner Frederick. The son got the name Alvin.

Life before and after the son are two different worlds, says Kalla.
– Alvin really means everything. I had thought about whether I would get annoyed when it didn’t turn out the way I thought it would. I’ve had the privilege of being selfish all my adult life. My skiing and training have always come first and I would never have compromised on sleep or anything like that. But now I think it’s so cool that the irritation I was thinking about doesn’t appear. And that because of what I feel for another, small person, who is now the boss, she tells Sundsvalls Tidning.
The decision about the son
The multiple Olympic gold medalist also pays tribute to her partner Fredrik for his parenting.
– We are a great team, all three of us. It certainly wouldn’t have worked if Fredrik hadn’t been such a cruel father. He’s been amazing and I’m grateful he has the job he has. I can steer a lot of my commitments to the mornings, when he doesn’t have so many shows and there is a lot of sleep on the agenda for Alvin, Kalla tells the local newspaper.

Charlotte has published pictures of her son Alvin on social media. But never where his face is visible, as in the picture below. Something that is a conscious decision by Kalla, and the reason can probably be understood by everyone.
– The day my son knows more and can make his own decisions, he is welcome to be seen if he gives his approval. When I scroll through my mobile, there are no other pictures but of him, but it still feels right to me that he is not involved in those contexts.
