Several games are currently threatening players with an AMD graphics card with a ban

Games like Call of Duty or Apex Legends currently ban players with an AMD graphics card. There are problems with a new feature from the graphics card manufacturer.

We already reported that Valve is banning players who use a certain AMD feature.

Now a number of players are complaining that they are also affected by a ban, even though they have never touched Counter-Strike 2.

Because other games seem to incorrectly recognize AMD’s Anti-Lag+ as a cheat program and throw players out or distribute bans to users.

Apex Legends and Call of Duty also ban players with AMD graphics cards

What is the problem? AMD’s Anti-Lag and Nvidia’s Reflex aim to reduce latency in games. Latency, simply put, is the time it takes for your mouse click to appear on the display.

Anti-Lag initially only adjusts the CPU frequency to the GPU speed to avoid too many graphics processes getting stuck in the queue.

However, Anti-Lag+ goes one step further and processes the code a little differently. But that’s exactly what seems to be bothering a number of games.

Players are now reporting on reddit that they are being banned not only in CS2, but also in games like Call of Duty and Apex: Legends. Here they either simply fly out of the game or are banned by Easy Anti Cheat (EAC).

And the list is even longer, because many games rely on EAC or other software to protect themselves from cheaters and other evildoers.

Who is affected? So far only owner of an AMD Radeon graphics card of the 7000 generation. Older graphics cards do not support Anti-Lag+ and therefore cannot be affected. If you “only” use AMD’s anti-lag, you should also be safe. If you use Nvidia Reflex, you should also be safe.

What can you do about it? If you have been banned, you will have to wait until Valve lifts the VAC ban on Steam.

Otherwise there are two options:

  • Either you uninstall your old graphics card driver and install an old version. Then Anti-Lag+ will disappear from your system.
  • Or you can simply switch off Anti-Lag+ via your graphics card software. You do this via the settings.
  • What’s next? AMD has not yet commented on the problems. So far it’s supposed to be a bug. It can therefore be assumed that AMD should take care of the problems quickly and will release a new update soon.
