Since October 7, faced with unspeakable horror, we have put into words what we saw and experienced in Israel. Terms such as “pogroms”, “crimes against humanity”, “razzia”, “terrorism” and “Daesh” crop up. How else to qualify the deliberate mass murder, the massacre of old people, the rape of women and the beheading of children, the kidnappings because the victims are Jewish…
The worst atrocities of previous centuries seem to have come together, but with an added element: the sinister use of technology. Hamas has made unprecedented use of videos and social media, exposing its barbarity to haunt victims’ families by sending them videos of rapes and murders of their loved ones, while providing sadistic exposure to the entire world. Even the Nazis were hiding (or the Russians in Boutcha etc.); so why this exposure by Hamas?
When, in the wake of this skillfully documented and broadcast barbarity, Ismael Haniyeh, the “political” leader of Hamas, comfortably installed in Qatar, calls for a day of global jihad on Friday October 13 (the day on which Dominique Bernard, teaching French at Gambetta-Carnot high school in Arras, was stabbed by Mohammed Mogouchkov, a Caucasian, registered S for radical Islamism), the Jews are afraid, the teachers are afraid, the police are afraid. Legitimately. Hamas awakens the basest instincts, and there has been an explosion of anti-Semitic acts since October 7. We observe that certain personalities, who usually condemn all injustice, are terrified and remain silent. And for good reason, at the slightest post of support for Israel or condemnation of Hamas, some are instantly overwhelmed, harassed by thousands of messages online which range from “Free Palestine” to insults, including threats.
As with Daesh, the objective is to import hatred and division, creating deep divisions between Muslims and the rest of society. Terrorists, by repeating these acts, seek to provoke anti-Muslim reactions which, in return, unite the targeted community and fuel radicalization.
Hamas sought to eliminate any chance of peace
Another objective of Hamas and its Iranian bosses is to sow the seeds of hatred in the Middle East. The Abraham Accords (normalization of Israeli relations with Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Sudan) had already damaged Israel’s work of destruction. But in the short term, peace seemed to be taking root and normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel could have generated unprecedented change, not only for the region, but also for the Palestinian people. Hamas has sought to eliminate any chance of peace for years to come.
Faced with this, the only response is firmness and fight, against the terrorists of Hamas, Hezbollah and against their patron, the mullahs and their revolutionary guards of the Islamic Republic of Iran (tyrants of their own people), towards whom the international community has shown too much weakness. Let us make no mistake, it is the very war of civilization against barbarism, as Elie Wiesel said, which is being played out there.
Here, in the face of Islamism, no more indulgence in the face of its supporters who benefit from this chaos, the NPA, Indigenous people of the Republic who advocate terrorism, or the South union, and yes, LFI, who have become enemies of the Republic.
This will not be easy, especially since we will have to avoid throwing ourselves into the arms of the extreme right, which remains an objective ally of our enemies. You have to hold a line, be courageous, which does not mean no longer being afraid, but overcoming it. The more of us there are, the less the objective of those who wish to destroy us will be achieved. Let us oppose them with the strength of our convictions. No more “prayers, thoughts, candles.” Israel’s fight and ours. It is time to fight firmly for our values, to assert our convictions, to clearly and unambiguously oppose this barbarity and all those who try to exploit it.
