Shortly after the break, Barcelona player Gavi scored the winning goal, 1-0. Spain had enormous pressure and the home team could not settle in the end.
The goal was VAR-reviewed for several minutes with several offside situations to look at before it was cleared. The review took 4.27.
“Difficult after the goal”
– We have four or five conversion opportunities in the first half that we should have used better and got Erling Haaland through. Then they get the goal and then it becomes difficult, but it’s probably not today that we lose the chance, says Norwegian national team captain Ståle Solbakken to Norwegian TV2.
In the first half, most people believed that Spain scored the lead goal, but it was also disallowed for offside after a long VAR review.
Norway and Haaland faded
Norway was pale and never bothered to trouble Spain. Manchester City star Erling Haaland played the entire match without him or the team creating any particularly hot scoring chances.
Spain secured a direct place in the European Championship play-offs together with Scotland, who also finished.
