Israeli hospitals on high alert

Israel’s military is ready for an invasion but at the same time fears a three-front war. There has already been shelling from both Lebanon and Syria. Therefore, a 4 km wide buffer zone has been created along the border and residents have been urged to leave the area – and the healthcare system is on high alert.

We will destroy destroy Hamas, that was the message given by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today ahead of Israel’s expected ground operations against northern Gaza. At the same time as the ground invasion on the Gaza Strip approaches, the pressure around the northern front against Israel and Syria is increasing.

Underground hospital

TV4’s emissaries have visited a hospital, far underground in Haifa in northern Israel, which is preparing for war against Lebanon in the event that Iran-backed Hezbollah joins the conflict. Here, parking spaces have been transformed into 1,200 hospital beds for civilians and soldiers.

– It has been said that the worst scenario if something were to happen from the north is that we get bombed every two minutes. There will be many injuries, many soldiers and many civilians. We have to prepare for many trauma patients, Varditt Gepstein, doctor at the hospital in Haifa.

Must resist chemical warfare

The underground hospital in Haifa was built after the bloody war between Israel and Lebanon in 2006. It is to withstand both missiles and chemical warfare and reservists have now been called to the hospital to prepare. At the same time, the situation for patients in hospitals in Gaza is becoming increasingly difficult. An acute water shortage threatens the hospitals and fuel for the hospitals’ backup generators is expected to run out within two days.

– As a person and as a doctor, it is very sobering to know that children and innocent people are being killed, even in Gaza, says Varditt Gepstein.

Bloody Hamas attack

Dramatic images and unique testimonies tell the story of the bloody massacre in which Hamas killed 260 people at a rave festival in Israel.
