Santeri Kiiveri dropped paralympic gold in the grand slalom on Thursday. The medal was the second for the Finn at the Beijing Paralympics.
Santeri Kiiveri On Thursday, he won the first gold medal in alpine skiing in the history of Finnish Paralympics. The helmet dropped to victory in the grand slalom with a tight 0.04 second lead from the United States Thomas C. Walshiin.
Bronze fell to the species’ number one name in France Arthur Bauchet (+0.49).
– Was a good day. A couple of days ago, our former Ruka head coach posted a message that the medal should be clarified. At first I thought I didn’t know if that was possible. Well now congratulations that yes it came from there! There can be no better feeling in it, Kiiveri comments to Sport after the win.
– You may not yet realize what has been done here. Kuhan has been downhill a bit, I guess it’s gone just fine. Maybe then when you get home at the latest to realize, Helmet laughed.
Helmet, 21, was second in the race after the opening round, 0.38 seconds behind Walsh. After the opening round, Kiiveri shook his head at the finish.
– I had a little trouble getting to the rhythm, and it didn’t feel good anywhere. The result is a bit surprising in the sense, Kiiveri still comments after the opening fall.
According to the Finnish skier, however, the track was in better condition in the second round than in the opening round.
– Much better than the first round, well they got it salted. It was amazing to count.
Walsh from the USA landed after Kiiveri, but failed to pass the Lappeenranta-based skier.
Kiiveri made history already on Monday, when he awarded Finland the first Paralympic alpine skiing medal in history.
The medal was the third for the Paralympics in Finland. Matti Suur-Hamari fell on Monday morning to snowboard cross paralympic gold.
The distribution of medals is at 12.30 Finnish time. The helmet will still be competing in slalom on Sunday.
