Perhaps it’s no wonder that James Bond 007 – Skyfall is the most successful and only 007 blockbuster grossed over $1 billion worldwide. However, it didn’t make it to number 1 for the agent franchise in our ranking.

As Forbes calculates, Skyfall grossed around $1.1 billion worldwide and is therefore well ahead of James Bond 007 – Specter, which claims the place as the second most successful Bond with almost 880 million. In our list of the best James Bond films, Skyfall still only comes in 4th place, while First and foremost is the classic Goldfinger.

Skyfall was released in 2012 in the 50th anniversary year of James Bond 007 hunts Dr. No and should celebrate the franchise in a special way. One idea was to have Sean Connery play the role of gamekeeper Kincaid. In the end, the idea was rejected because the appearance of the original James Bond in a new role would have been too distracting.

Skyfall is running this Sunday, October 15, 2023, at 8:15 p.m. on Sat.1. If you don’t have time, you can catch up on the film in the repeat on October 20th at 10:50 p.m. on ProSieben. Sean Connery is not seen in front of the camera. Albert Finney (Erin Brockovich) ultimately took on the role that was intended for him.
