The father died.
The mother and a child were taken to hospital.
According to several sources, all information indicates that they have no connections to the criminal environment – that it is the wrong family that has been victimized.
Many residents in Västberga in southern Stockholm raised the alarm when the shots echoed in the residential area on the night of Thursday.
One or more perpetrators had then forced their way into the home of a family with children and opened fire.
The father died. The mother was injured when she was hit by two shots. She and a small child were taken to hospital.
Early information about the fatal shooting pointed to the wrong people being targeted. Several informants state to Aftonbladet that all known information indicates that it was a misfire. The family of children shot at shares a surname with a person who is singled out as the intended target but who has no connection to the victims, according to Aftonbladet’s information.
Also Swedens radio have reported that according to their information, the family has no connection to the criminal environment.
Several similar acts
Recently, there have been reports of more and more so-called “missing shootings”, that people with no connection to crime are affected by the deadly gang violence.
In mid-September, 25-year-old Mogos Amanuel Tesfemariam was shot dead in his stairwell in the Uppsala area of Sala hill. The 25-year-old was on his way to his job in home care when a perpetrator who was apparently looking for another person shot him.
24-year-old Soha Saad died when a powerful explosive detonated at the neighbor’s house in the Storvreta area of Uppsala at the end of September. She was sleeping downstairs in the family’s house when the bomb exploded in the middle of the night.
In that case, people in the neighboring house are singled out as targets.
Misfires
A few nights before the explosion in Storvreta, a man in his 60s was shot outside a villa in Åkersberga, north of Stockholm.
The man must have discovered that there was a fire on the balcony. When he went out to check, he was hit by gunfire and seriously injured.
According to Aftonbladet’s information, the police suspect that this is also a “misfire”.
Barely a day later, there was another suspected “misfire” with connections to the Åkersberga shooting. Four men were then barbecuing in Jordbro, south of Stockholm, when a car stopped and opened fire on the men. A 23-year-old man who, according to the police, suspects was not the intended target died.
The Jordbro shooting and the shooting in Åkersberga are connected by the fact that the same car is believed to have been used in both crimes, according to Aftonbladet’s information. A car that crashed into a villa after the latter shooting.
“Are shaken”
National Police Chief Anders Thornberg commented on the Västberga shooting and the double murder in Tullinge on Friday, the latest two crimes in the ongoing wave of violence:
– We are shocked by the brutality and see that the limits of violence continue to be pushed forward. The police are working with full force to prevent crime and stop the wave of violence.
