Pokémon GO Unveils 2023 Halloween Event with New Pokémon & Research

Pokémon GO has presented the first content for the 2023 Halloween event. This comes in two parts – and the first part is now known.

When does the Halloween event start? The 2023 Halloween Adventure starts on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. local time. The first part of the event will run until October 26th at 10:00 a.m.

What happens at the Halloween event? As always, you can expect spooky content, with lots of ghost Pokémon and a Halloween-like atmosphere.

  • Among other things, the map’s Halloween decorations will be reactivated
  • A remix of classic Lavandia music will also play at night

    • Bonuses also become active.

  • Additional catch candies for good, great and fabulous throws
  • Extra XL candies when caught with good, great and fabulous throws
  • An additional XL candy when hatching eggs, starting at level 31
  • Double candy for hatching

    • There are also some exciting Pokémon in the event.

    Ghost dog Gruff makes his debut, bringing even more ghost Pokémon with him

    This is Gruff: Gruff is a relatively new Pokémon, originating from the Crimson and Crimson games. The ghost Pokémon was presented in its own small trailer in 2022, which we are including again here.

    It can evolve into the Pokémon Friedwuff. In Pokémon GO you need 50 candies for this.

    There will also be more Pokémon on the way that fit Halloween. This also includes Paragoni, which will be shiny for the first time. The event spawns are:

  • Rettan*
  • Zubat*
  • Alola Meowth*
  • Nebulak*
  • Alpollo
  • Webarak*
  • Traunfugile*
  • Fiffyen*
  • Shuppet*
  • Drifloon*
  • light*
  • Paragoni*
  • Sankabuh (but rarer)

    • (Possible shinys are marked with an asterisk*)

    Traunfugil and Paragoni will also be doing field research. Shuppet, Banette or Gruff can compete in the showcases.

    What does the research bring? The event will bring several.

  • A limited-time research from October 19th to 31st that will bring you Gruff encounters and other rewards.
  • Another temporary research revolving around Kryppuk. It also runs from October 19th to 31st.
  • And additional paid research, which should cost around 5 US dollars (probably around 5 euros). There are also Pokémon encounters and a Halloween avatar pose to be had.

    • In raids:

  • Level 1: Traunfugil*, Shuppet*, Driftlon*
  • Level 3: Gengar*, Sankabuh, Gruff
  • Level 5: Schlingking* (until October 20th), Darkrai* (from October 20th)
  • Mega Raids: Mega Gengar* (until October 20th), Mega Banette* (from October 20th)

    • In 7 km eggs:

  • Munchfaxo*
  • Riolu*
  • Galar Macabaja*

    • There will also be offers in the shop and research with Prime Gaming, which will, among other things, bring a Gruff wig for the avatar.
