Football profile Peter Antoine is dead, writes Aftonbladet.
The former coach was 79 years old.

Peter Antoine was a German-Swedish former footballer who went on to become a football coach. Antoine trained, among others, Assyriska FF, Karlskrona AIK and Gefle IF. But he was best known for his two stays in Mjällby AIF.
Acclaimed trainer
Antoine coached Mjällby between the years 1991-1992 and 1994-1996. At the club, he achieved great success when he took the team up from division 2, and was a celebrated coach.
Antoine became known for his personality and temper as a coach. After his coaching career, he was for a period an expert commentator for TV4 in their investment in English football, and appeared in the same role during, among other things, the WC 2006. In connection with his TV stay, Antoine received the nickname “The German”

Antoine was born in Essen in Germany, but moved to Sweden as an adult. He settled some time back in Hällevik in Sölvesborg municipality. In 2017, the former coach suffered from bone rot and was forced to amputate his right leg as a result.
Turned 79 years old
Now the football icon has died, aged 79. Antoine died on the night of Thursday in the aftermath of pneumonia, reports Aftonbladet.
– It was very sad to hear that Peter Antoine passed away. Peter was coach for Mjällby in two rounds and made a positive impression, says the association’s club manager Jacob Lennartsson to the evening paper.
