Virtual reality, embodied by the “metaverse”, has fueled dreams of escape at a time when movement was strongly constrained, during the Covid-19 crisis. A little less, it must be admitted, when the world reopened. The appetite for immersive technologies has not disappeared, however. Interest in headsets is even experiencing new momentum with the sensational arrival of Apple, as well as the brand new Meta model, the Quest 3. As well as in the middle of these giants, a “little” Frenchman: Lynx. And at its head Stan Larroque.
Through his wanderings, the entrepreneur will present the many challenges of mixed reality. While concrete use cases are emerging in entertainment or the professional world, for training purposes for example, the ecosystems are still young, the applications few in number, and the production costs very high. “A mixed reality headset today combines all the technologies found in a high-end smartphone,” comments Stan Larroque. All in a frame that could fit on anyone’s head. This technological adventure, however, makes sense these days. “We cannot admit that for high-tech products, i.e. the industry of the 21st century, there are only two solutions: Asian or American,” recently urged Henri Seydoux, Parrot drone manufacturer and mentor of Stan Larroque. , not yet 30 years old.
