Goal drought during the fall in the women’s league, but in the Champions League qualifier against Twente, Häcken’s goalscoring came loose.
After the guests from the Netherlands started clearly the strongest and took the lead after an invitation from left back Anna Sandberg, back from injury, the equalizer came in extra time in the first half for the Hising team.
16-year-old Felicia Schröder ran into a position from a tight angle – and resolutely fired in her first goal in the Champions League context.
Protests from Twente
The goal angered the Twente camp, who argued that their player Wieke Kaptein was injured in Häcken’s half during the attack and that the referee should have blown the game off, but it was upheld.
In the second half, Häcken added just a minute after kick-off.
Anna Sandberg got revenge for the miss earlier and was behind the post for the goal scorer Katariina Kosola, the Finnish new acquisition who joined from Kif Örebro at the end of August.
Costly miss by Falk
There and then, Häcken looked to be winning the first game in the doubles meeting, but Twente equalized after a weak intervention by goalkeeper Jennifer Falk.
Leonie Vliek got a free position from the right and shot straight at the Swedish national team goalkeeper, who did not raise his arm quickly enough and the ball bounced over his shoulder into the net.
Disturbing pictures of Rubensson
A big question mark for Häcken was that important Elin Rubensson, who has been in successful form this season and not least was widely praised during the WC, limped off the field in the first half.
The possible injury did not occur in any melee, but when Rubensson apparently slipped during a shooting opportunity and stretched. She received treatment on her left thigh on the spot and grinned evilly as she left the pitch, then shook her head and was substituted.
The return leg between the teams will be played in the Netherlands in a week and the winner will advance to the CL group stage.
