Öland’s bridge is outdated and undersized, says Riksdag member Gudrun Brunegård (KD) from Vimmerby. That is why she has sent in the motion, which is to give the Swedish Transport Administration the task of investigating the conditions for building a new one.
– We must also have alternatives, so that you are not dependent on a bridge. Precisely from a security point of view, says Gudrun Brunegård.
The motion is about a brand new bridge and the old one will therefore remain, according to the motion.
Where a possible new bridge would start to be built, and how it would be financed, the investigation must show, says Brunegård.
Long in the future
However, Brunegård emphasizes that it is a long way from an exercise to an actual sod in the ground. But she hopes that her involvement will raise the issue seriously.
– My hope is that in due time we will be able to see that this work begins and takes off – that the aim is to get a second Ölandsbro, she says.
