In the new patch for Starfield, Bethesda has finally added the option to change the field of view via the FOV slider. But that’s not enough for the community. Players are demanding significantly more QoL changes that will make the gaming experience even smoother and more comfortable should.
The release of Starfield was some time ago. Bethesda delivers some improvements to their space role-playing game with every new update. But the fans are not completely satisfied. They want more features and more setting options to be able to customize the gaming experience to their liking.
Bethesda is bringing a feature that has been available via mod for a long time
What’s in the new patch? With update 1.7.36, an FOV slider was added to Starfield’s graphics options. You can now officially freely adjust the field of view in the first and third person perspective. Players can use the feature equally on PC and Xbox Series X|S.
There are also additional stability and performance improvements. A special mention goes to the Intel Arc graphics cards with improved stability.
There was also a change in the faction quest “Echoes of the Past”. Fixed an issue where tunnel creatures could choose a location, which could hinder your quest progress.
Why are players still dissatisfied with the update? The possibility of changing the field of view via FOV slider was brought into play by the community itself weeks ago.
On the PC you could adjust the value to your liking using an additional Ini file created. A short time later, this could be changed even more easily using appropriate mods. At least console players on Xbox Series X|S can now enjoy a larger field of vision after a long wait.
What is Starfield still missing? The update is definitely going in the right direction. However, the fans have further wishes to further increase the playing comfort. These include, among other things, support for 32:9 ultra-wide monitors and the official integration of Nvidia DLSS.
Until then, you can achieve more FPS in Starfield with the best graphics settings on PC.
Fans are also calling for an option to exit the game directly from the in-game menu and a revised map with a better overview.
Whether and when Bethesda will follow up on these requests remains uncertain. Until Starfield has been expanded to include these QoL features, you can at least rely on the wide variety of mods available from the community.
