ANSWER: No spread of swine fever outside the core area

A month after the discovery of the outbreak, there are still no signs that the infection has spread further in the country.

49 infected wild boars have been found, none of them outside the so-called core area.

– We are as safe as we can be. The infection appears to be concentrated and has not spread, says state veterinarian Erika Chenais to the radio.

If no new infected pigs are found outside the core area, it may be appropriate to reduce the cordoned off zone and ease the restrictions at the beginning of December.
