The four government parties are open to allowing Swedish authorities that manage capital to invest in the arms industry, reports Sveriges Radio’s Ekot.

– Weapons in themselves are of course not unethical, says the Sweden Democrats’ spokesperson Oscar Sjöstedt.

It is about reviewing the ethical principles that regulate the authorities’ investment of, among other things, pension money, something that the Liberals’ party leadership proposed before the party’s national meeting. It is above all the Chamber of Commerce and the Pensions Authority that manage capital today.

– It is a double standard to allow the state to buy weapons but not to invest in the companies that manufacture weapons, says Mikael Oscarsson (KD), to the radio.

The Green Party and the Left Party are against such a change.
