Hanna Öberg had a tough time last year.
Now she admits the dark thoughts she had.
– I think it was the first time I thought that, she says in the documentary “Best when it comes”.

When the disappointment was at its worst, the dark thoughts came to mind. Big sister Öberg now admits that she doubted life as a biathlete and was close to giving up completely.
– I was quite frustrated. Is it worth it when I don’t think it’s fun? I didn’t think it was that much fun, she says in the TV documentary “Bäst när det gäder”, which follows the national biathlon team up close.
Hanna’s confession
Hanna Öberg considered ending her elite career and doing something completely different. That’s how incredibly frustrated the 27-year-old was during the tough winter.
– I think it was the first time that I thought that there is something else than going around to competitions and camps, it was a new feeling, she says in the documentary that is broadcast on SVT.

But everything would turn around and last year had a superb dream ending when Öberg dominated the Biathlon World Cup in Oberhof. The Swede made a big impression and took home two WC golds, a WC silver and a WC bronze.
She was named WC queen and can now look back on how much the mental aspect plays a role in biathlon. How small the difference is between success and failure.
– I have to believe that I can, but with shooting it’s a lot about having the right focus, being aware and present in the moment when you’re on the shooting range, says Hanna in the documentary.
