Russia hits northern Ukrainian city of Zhytomyr on Monday night, says correspondent Antti Kuronen ‘s morning and radio Ykkösaamun’s interviews.
Kuronen says that he arrived in Zhytomyr on Monday night. The city is located about 100 kilometers west of Kiev.
– In the evening, Russia hit the city, either with missiles or fighter jets, says Antti Kuronen.
One of the targets hit was a large apartment building that caught fire during the night. The house is located about three kilometers from Kuronen’s residence.
In the morning, the fire department tried to prevent the fire from spreading. Antti Kuronen reports on the events in the vicinity of a burning apartment building.
– When I came here in the evening, there was a body outside the house on the street. At that time, it was not yet known if there would be more dead, because a large part of the building has collapsed, says Antti Kuronen.
However, he says he visited the ruins of the house inside in the evening.
– There were destroyed rooms, including a children’s room. There was a bunk bed and a desk with homework, Antti Kuronen describes what he saw.
– Fortunately, there was no one at home in the apartment, the children are alive.
Kuronen describes the attack as an example of Russian warfare. He says that in the morning it has become clear that there is a building near the apartment building that houses the soldiers of the Ukrainian army.
