According to the breaking news, US Secretary of State Blinken announced that sending weapons to Ukraine is the decision of each country, and that Poland’s latest proposal for warplanes “has some difficulties”. “The aim is to end aggression, save lives and prevent unnecessary bloodshed,” Blinken said, adding that the deployment of US troops or jets to the region would lead to an expansion of the conflict.
Blinken also stated that the Ukrainian people would not accept a “puppet regime” brought by Putin, in which case the war would turn into a “long and bloody” one where Russia would suffer.
POLAND OFFER
Blinken said on Sunday that the US could deploy its planes to Poland if Poland agreed to put its warplanes for use by Ukraine. The Polish authorities stated that a final decision on this issue should be taken jointly within NATO and that no definitive decision had been taken on sending the planes to Ukraine.
Polish President Andrzej Duda, on the other hand, stated that sending warplanes to Ukraine would mean entering the war, and announced that they would not send warplanes to Ukraine for this reason.
Later, Poland announced its readiness to place MiG-29 jets at the disposal of the US government to be sent to Ukraine. Poland’s decision to hand over its warplanes promptly and free of charge lifted Washington.
