When she herself gets to point out the finest moments from her career, it is of course the first US Open victory in 1995, when she went an 18-hole round in an unparalleled 59 strokes in 2001 and being inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame that comes high on the list . Sörenstam also puts her finger on what made her the best in the world at golf.
– The persistence. And that I love to exercise. When I decide on something, I go in one hundred percent and just go for it. And exercise gives confidence. I could think of fun: “Annika, if you could choose to be one of the players out there, who would it be?” But I realized that I wanted to be myself, she says in an old interview with the magazine GP.
Will teach the children
Annika Sörenstam is an extreme competitive person and possesses a rare winning streak. Something that her family has experienced over the years, whether it’s card games or family golf.
– Maybe I didn’t play my best when the children were younger, but now they all have to make a little effort. I don’t give them a free win, it doesn’t help them at all, she admits in the interview.

Annika is married to her husband Michael McGee and they have the daughter Ava14 years old, and the son William, 12 years. Despite having earned millions of kroner from golf, she wants to teach her children how much it takes to achieve their dreams and goals in life.
– It is something we work with daily. We try to be a normal family, but it’s clear that Ava and Will see that we’re doing very well. The important thing is that they find their own motivation, it must come from within. At school, for example, we are happy to support there, but they have to do the work themselves, she tells the local newspaper.
