If you only watch one anime this season, it has to be this one

Of all the anime this season, one in particular stands out. If you only have time for one anime, it should be Freezing.

You might think that anime fans have had a really good time in recent years. Because more series are being published than ever before. No matter what genre you like, there is something for everyone. But with so many productions, there is also a lot of “trash” that you can safely skip.

Anyone who tries to stay up to date with all the series will simply be overwhelmed. The selection is too big and the amount of bad series is simply increasing. We would therefore like to recommend a series to you that promises to be a real hit after the first few episodes:

Freeze: Beyond Journey’s End.

What is freezing about? Frieren tells the story of a fantasy world that seems a bit cliché at first glance. But instead of witnessing the great journey of heroes, this adventure is already complete.

The troupe consisting of the elf magician Frieren, the human priest Heiter, the human hero Himmel and the dwarf Eisen were on the road for 10 years. The Demon King has been defeated and the kingdom now faces a period of peace.

After the country is saved, Friieren sets off on a journey to pursue her hobby. She collects spells all over the world.

After 50 years, Frieren returns and realizes that her human companions are already on the verge of death – age has simply caught up with them. She realizes too late that she hasn’t used the time to really get to know her companions.

The priest Heiter is still alive and has taken in a little war orphan – but his time is almost up. Frieren decides to take the human girl as a student and repeat the journey she once took with her companions in order to perhaps learn more.

The original group of heroes from Frieren – at a young age.

What makes freezing so special? Already in the first episodes it becomes clear that Freezing will be a sad and emotional story in which time and people’s mortality are a constant theme.

This theme also becomes clear because Frieren’s student continues to grow as time advances and, as a person, has a completely different view of the flow of time. While the almost timeless Frien would like to spend a few years looking for a special flower that may not even exist, these are important months for her student that she will never get back.

By the way, the opening is again by YAOSOBI, who already impressed with “Oshi no Ko”:

Anyone who is a little “close to the water” will have to shed a few tears in almost every episode. Because as beautiful as a life that lasts for millennia sounds, the pain of loss and the regret of not having dealt enough with those who don’t have so much time are always deep.

Where can you watch Freezing? If you are interested in the series, you can watch it on the streaming provider Crunchyroll in Germany.

One of the advantages of Freezing is that the series started with a “2-hour special” in which the first four episodes were shown straight away. So you can absorb a really big piece of the story straight away and then stay tuned every week to continue the plot.
