Teachers sound the alarm: The children beat us – every day

According to Kommunal, the situation at Kannebäck school has become unsustainable. The adapted school is attended by students with high care needs who tend to become violent. Kommunal’s safety representative writes that the staff receives punches, kicks and tears from the students on a daily basis. Something that has led to rampant sick leave among teachers. Now the trade union is putting its foot down and alerting the Work Environment Agency about the current situation. Can’t afford to hire Some days every fifth teacher is gone and the school says they can’t afford to hire more staff. But according to Christopher Wallberg Törnbäck, deputy head of education, the school management takes the situation very seriously. – We have enormous respect for school leaders and teachers and other school staff, they do a monster job for which we should be extremely proud and grateful. But now it is not possible to hire more, says Christopher Wallberg Törnbäck to GP. The head of education states that they always comply with the Work Environment Act and that it is a joint mission to try to solve the problem at the school. Before measures The school management has tried to solve the problem of hiring another teacher and at the same time tried to rearrange the staff’s schedules. – I have asked Kommunal what specifically they are pointing to, because we do not feel that there is a broad staffing problem in the organization and we believe that the measures being introduced now will have a positive effect. Kannebäcksskolan is an adapted primary school for students with intellectual disabilities.
